Dish washer uses less water for a great deal more dishes. You use electricity but on average, it's cheaper to use dish washer. Get one that empties and rinses between each cycle and has a thermostat that will heat water that isn't hot enough to clean. Mine actually has a high temp wash I use when someone is sick, hot water kills more germs!What saves more money, washing dishes in the dishwasher or in the sink?

The Bonn study proves that the dishwasher uses only half the energy and one-sixth of the water, less soap too. Even the most sparing and careful washers could not beat the modern dishwasher. The study also rated the cleanliness achieved, again in favor of the washing machine (sorry grandma). There have been studies before, but this is one of the few that stands (wo)man against machine and it sets itself apart by including a thorough analysis of the effect of half-loads and the whole demand range from your cake plate to the grimiest pots.

I would like to think the dishwasher would save more money in the long run.. Especially if you only run full loads, Do NOT use the dry feature AND run it on time delay at night while you are sleeping and the hot water is heated for no reason in particular...
Dishwasher, uses alot less than you would for doing dishes!!!! thats why they have to meet engery star requirments.
Dishwasher......Your average dish takes about 30 seconds to thoroughly wash.....and that's all running water. A dishwasher is much more economic.
