Is it necessary to use soap when your washing dishes?

i always use soap when im washing something with alot of grease like pots and pans but do you really need to use it for things like utensils and plates? i wash those things by hand without soap until their spotless so does it really make a difference if i used soap?Is it necessary to use soap when your washing dishes?
That's just gross.... of course you need soap.

Do you use soap in the laundry??? In the shower??? Why would you think you don't need it for the dishes???Is it necessary to use soap when your washing dishes?
Yes,even water sometimes has bacteria in it.Soap helps with that.
I highly advise you to use soap! Just to be safe!
Yes, I would totally use dish soap because if I didn't, bacteria can collect on dishes and cause me to get sick!
Please don't invite me for dinner at your house! What soap does is hold grease in suspension in the water so it can be rinsed away. You might be able to get away with not using soap or detergent or something else to cut grease and oil for a couple of washes but after that, your dishes will have grease on them. Unless of course you only ever eat vegetables with no butter or salad dressing on them. If you dry the dishes very thoroughly you'll wipe off fingerprints and most grease, but you better use a fresh towel every time. If dish soap bothers you for some reason, try baking soda.
i would wash with soap to kill any bacteria that may be on them
You aren't cleaning them if you are only using water, their is nothing to remove the unseen grime and germs...remind me not to eat at your house...gross
Dish soap that says anti-bacterial is only reducing germs on your skin--not the dishes. Plain water is probably fine but I prefer dish soap.
It cleans the oil, on kitchenware, and some have anti bacterial solutions that's what they Say. Its a few chemicals, good if you use it.
i would definately use dishsoap to clean the dishes, you can buy antibacterial dishsoap it makes a huge difference if you dont use soap, they wont get as clean and the germs wont wash off with just water
It depends what the dishes were used for. If the glasses just had water, and the plates just had crackers or fruit, you probably wouldn't need soap. If your glasses had milk and your plates had hot food, then yes. You cant get all the greasy residue off without it.
you can try a half cup of vinegar in your water
