Hi I have been doing electrical work for over 15 years. I cant give you a solid number because there parts that I don't know. If you are washing dishes once a day how many dishes are we talking about, and how long does it take you to wash them. I can give you my opinion. O.k. lets think about this. When you wash dishes by hand, you are only drawing electricity for the hot water heater to heat the water. When you use the dish washer you are drawing electricity for the hot water heater and the dish washer. The dish washer will probably save you alittle on water consumption, but its more for convienance then anything. So as long as it doesnt take you 30 minutes to wash dishes by hand and your water company doesnt charge an outrages price for water. Dish washer uses more. Room air drys dishes washed by hand. Electricity drys dishes in washer.

It really depends on the efficiency of the dish washer and the actual way you wash dishes. Since the specifics are vague, its near impossible to answer. But typically speaking, you would probably save money using the dishwasher due to the fact that the ';green movement'; would have already attacked diswashers as being bad for the environment.
