Which is more energy efficient: washing dishes by hand or running a dishwasher?

I have a dishwasher but rarely use it. I hand wash my dishes 2-3 times a day. Would it be more energy efficient to wait a few days to fill up the dishwasher and run it during the night 2-3 times a week?Which is more energy efficient: washing dishes by hand or running a dishwasher?
It is more energy efficient to wash dishes by hand of course. It take gallons of water to wash by machine. If you wash dishes by hand and don't let the water run continually as you are washing, you will same tremendously.Which is more energy efficient: washing dishes by hand or running a dishwasher?
Washing dishes by hand saves energy. Also if you are a bit careful, you can save water as well. While washing dishes you can also collect the waste water and use it to flush toilets and water plants. This will also save gallons of fresh water. In case you are using the dishwasher, make sure you always run it full!

Conserving energy and water is very important for a better environment.
It would be more energy efficient to wash the machine in the dishwasher. this is because the dishwasher does not waste as much water as the continuous washing and letting the water run by hand washing them. we have tried this and seen that it does conserve energy
It depends on how much water you use doing dishes by hand. Me, I am EXTREMELY wasteful with water doing dishes by hand. But if you can wash all your dishes with a couple gallons of water, then do them by hand.
It would definitely save water and likely save energy, because you would be heating less water.
