POLL: which one is more efficient washing dishes from a 6 member family by a dishwasher or wash it by hand?

Saw recently on ';Going Green'; that the dishwasher uses less water and electricity than hand washing dishes. Hand washing uses more water %26amp; more electricity reheating water than a dishwasher. Dishwasher also uses a harsher detergent %26amp; hotter water so it can sterilize dishes.POLL: which one is more efficient washing dishes from a 6 member family by a dishwasher or wash it by hand?
I'd have to say by hand if you have that many people to help do them. We're only 3 people, and my husband and daughter bemoaned the fact our current rental does not have a dishwasher. I said oh no, washing dishes by hand is not only faster for me, but the dishes get cleaner than the dishwasher. I was actually annoyed with having a dishwasher because of the dishes not getting clean, and because we all got lazy and the dishes going into the dishwasher would pile up, and when it's hot like it is now, stink.





But now, we do them after dinner, and they don't pile up. We usually don't dry them by hand, but let them dry in the rack. We live in Southern California so they're dry almost immediately.





For you guys though, you could have a line of washer, dryers, and putting away. I used to do this with my family when I was little and it was great. We actually enjoyed it because we talked and laughed and it went by quickly.POLL: which one is more efficient washing dishes from a 6 member family by a dishwasher or wash it by hand?
Dishwasher undoutedly. It willl wash them quicker and get them more sanitary.
