What is ';greener'; washing dishes by hand, by dishwasher or using paper plates?

Listen............spend a little bit of money get a decent dishwasher( a cheap 1 is the 1 that you have rinse dishes before you put them in) do not rinse them just a good scrape is all they need. All dishwasher are energy star now days, they only use 4 gallons of water, when you wash dishes by hand you use 3 times that plus more in electric.

Please people get your facts before you recommend..........

Again if you buy a dishwasher 300$ or more you do not need to rinse.......recycled paper plates are OK ....stop washing dishes by hand and if you have to leave the water off as much as possible. What is ';greener'; washing dishes by hand, by dishwasher or using paper plates?
washing dishes by hand, some paper plates cant be recycled... especially don't use StyrofoamWhat is ';greener'; washing dishes by hand, by dishwasher or using paper plates?
i gotta say washing dishes by hand, though the soap can be a problem in the treatment facility before the water is returned to the earth... paper plates cost trees and pulp mills pollute.

soap factories pollute too, (and what do they put in that stuff, anyway?)

maybe there is another way...
We get the novices to take them down to the river and scour them in the sand. It upsets a few crabs, but green ?? Yes the river is quite green, almost gelatinous actually.
washin' by hand, itz not electric and not cuttin' trees.

great question. I think it all depends on how you wash the dishes, and what paper plates and utensils you use. But in general, washing plates in the long run since you can control the amount of water you use, and use biodegradeable soap, and air dry the plates.

with paper plates, you're probably going to use plastic utensils, or i guess you could use metal ones, which require washing them later on...or you could use chopsticks which also require washing, but the wood ones you'd have to throw away sooner or later. All in all, I think washing by hand generates the least waste.
They say if you have large loads to wash, then it's better to use the dishwasher, but I tried it and it just raised my bill bc you still have to rinse the plates down.

Paper plates are the worst you can do

So washing dishes looks like the best way to go.
Eating out of the pan or can if you prefer.
Washing dishes by hand uses the least water.

Washing dishes in the dishwasher is a great sanitizer, probably the best.

Even recycled paper used in some plates isn't very green!! It takes more energy and resources to make recycled paper than it takes to cut down a tree and make new paper. Foam plated so not disintegrate in 100 yrs so just fill the land fills. Paper plates can be burned? but that adds polution to the air.
Dishwasher as long as you're doing full loads and your dishwasher isn't 20 years old..
I watched a green promo programme a few weeks ago, and for 2 adults and 2/3 kids, it IS greener to use a dishwasher, wish I had one!!!

If you are talking 1/2 adults then washing by hand, def.

I don't think paper plates would be very green, maybe if U used them as loo roll after! Urgh.....
Washing dishes by hand, your saving electric, and not wasting trees.
use a dishwasher it saves more water than doing them by hand
paper

it decomposes

and you dont use water
